How do I load system factory reset from boot?

Hi,
I am using Win7 pro, I recently, installed
A new harddrive. It installed beautifully
And I was able to use it...for about an hour. Suddenly a notification from windows pops up telling me that I need to restart my computer for recently installed updates to take place. So I did. It came back on, but when I went to finish moving things around on the new hdd, it crashed the computer and now everything is gone.

The original hdd gets an error saying no os was found and to hit ctrl+alt+del to restart only to go right back to it. That is as far as I can get. Now the new hdd says that bootmgr is missing. F8 does nothing to get me to the advanced boot options. What can I do?

Welcome to the forum do you have a Windows installation DVD so you can boot and do a repair?

No, I bought a refurbished win7 machine. It already had the os installed. On the disk I cant get to, I have a win7 install file.

From the above sounds to me that you played around with drives and partitions, and killed the boot mgr.

I have already, seen this tutorial. It doesnt work...you are right though I did a clean on the new hdd through cmd. Then I repartitioned it but it booted just fine for the next 3 or 4 times after. Then all of a sudden....

Unfortunately I just had that happened to me when I downgraded from Win 10 to Win 7 on my laptop, my Win 7 install disc failed to install properly, nothing I could do would fix it, had to buy a new HDD. You may have to buy another new one and start from scratch.

On the hard drive he cannot access. As for taking it back to where he bought it refurbished machines typically only have a 60 to 90 day warranty and if it's older than that he's out of luck.

Sorry, misunderstood but since it was most likely "user error" possibly due to repartitioning the HD I doubt it would be covered under the warranty but he can try if he wants.
