I repaired my damaged win7 ultimate dvd
Recently revisited this problem.
I have the full windows install DVD, it sat in the drawer, somehow got damaged.
After the damage, couple years ago, I copied manually the files onto the hard drive what I could, and found some jpeg that could not be read etc.... so I substituted other files or something. But of course it took a while to figure out. It was not any important system files, files related to WOW addons, some part of ultimate were damaged.
I finally had all the files and the install was sitting in a folder, but was unbootable when converted to an iso.
At that time I gave up on it.
So was looking at it years later today, and I fixed it with Isomaster, a linux program.
I had a bootable but bad DVD copy in iso form on the hard drive.
I loaded that in Isomaster. Even though it was 3.3 gb, only one file came up, it was badly damaged.
I loaded for source files the manually copied win7 files that I managed to get off that disc.
Then dragged all those files into the iso file.
When that was done, I saved it as an iso.
Tested in virtualbox and it worked all the way full install to the desktop!
I was amazed I could figure it out.

I think also imageburn can do this iso edit while maintaining a bootable iso.
I dont know if I will ever use it, but I have it again.
For years I had no way of reinstalling 7 on that PC, so I upgraded to free win10 pro when it came out as a freebie. Luckily that PC held together till win10.
