Win 7 Home Prem DVD driver missing - replugging USB does not work

The System is Toshiba laptop Win 7 home prem 64 bit.

The installation is on USB, it was used on to install once before on an MSI motherboard.
The system does not have USB 3 that I can see from the specs so that should not be an issue.

The installation quits on the "a required CD/ DVD driver is missing" error. Rescanning and reinserting the USB does not do the job. The USB and its folders are detected in the brows option, but the PC does not seem to see any file types of any kind in the file browser. Searching a folder immediately says "no device drivers were found" I also attempted to download files from Toshiba and drop those on a separate USB, but no effect.

Did Toshiba built in some sort of anti reinstall feature that requires manufacturers disc?

    I cannot understand the issue.

Where can I find the correct or generic drivers? The toshiba website doesn't seem to look like it has the "DVD" driver. Or is this simply the installer losing track of the USB hub?

Hi and welcome to Seven Forums.

Win7 does not come with a modern driver so you need to inject XHCI driver into your USB.
This is an Intel version that I have not used as I use a Gigabyte injector that sometimes has issues.
Then you will have the right driver to load Win7 via USB.

It is an AMD system, I guess I should have said... so will that still work?

Also, the installation seemed to work with OEM WIN 7 PRO, it is currently using WIN 10 OS without activation as a way of use.....

Also the USB 3 problem doesn't seem to be the issue, the hardware is USB 2. There does seem to be some sort of USB 3 support software on the toshiba support website.

Hi and No AMD is not an issue, yes it will work.
Win Pro or whatever Win as long as it is 7 is the issue.
USB 2 or 3 is the issue as there is no driver for it in the install iso of Win 7.
You need to inject the driver into the usb version of the iso to load Win 7 from usb.
If you loaded the same win7 iso from disk it would install, you have chosen to install from usb and there is your issue.

On the data sheet it doesn't mention USB3.x ports.satellite_L755D-S5163.pdf
But on the Drivers list there is a AMD xHC driver - http://files.ecp.toshiba.com/2016/08...c70113700b.exe

When it comes with the "a required CD/ DVD driver is missing" message, do you have mouse and /or keyboard?

Look, if you're able to get to the internet, just download the driver from the manufacturer. Windows update will also install the driver for you.

@bhutchins. The laptop HDD is reformatted and no way of getting onto the net without an OS, I do have a hirens boot cd, which I suppose could get some generic xp drivers on there... not sure, don't want to go that route yet.

Yes, I do have a usb mouse and keyboard...... I am actually using a usb keyboard because the laptop one went bad. I think this issue is a built in Toshiba roadblock, so I have to buy a recovery disk... grrrr. The USB and DVD drives work, and install up to the point where it wants drivers.

(Microsoft's Win 7 iso download site will not provide the download, directs me to the manufacturer - I thought a fresh iso file might do the job.....)

I also downloaded the file above, the USB stick is seen by the installer, however, no files are, and when scanning for drivers, the message "no device drivers were found" splashes on screen instantly. Do need to extract something so the installer can see the file? What extension is it looking for?

@ MeOnMine - I will certainly try the inject drivers route if this keeps up....

What version of Win 7 64 you want (home, HP, Pro or Ultimate)? I can send you a M$ link for download.
When you try to install, are you able to see the drive? You may need the SATA drivers.

So I am actually having this issue on two toshiba laptops, a C655 and a C775D. The windows 7 home premium iso that I downloaded I cannot remember where I got it, I think I bought a COA key online on ebay and the seller sent me a link..... it all worked out fine on my desktop custom budget build.

The C775 has a 500GB HDD that I don't know the specs, the C655 I tried it second to see if the issue would pop up again, I did, I am using an Hitachi HGST SATA 6gb/s HDD, I reformatted it and created an active partition on it using my Windows 7 Pro computer.... Windows 7 home premium would not do that for me on the desktop!

SATA drivers.... should I get drivers from Hitachi and put them on USB? Should I try an older HDD? maybe something that is SATA 150? Although the faster SATA should be backwards compatible to any other SATA drivers, I know there must be SOME kind of generic driver in there right?

You can not buy a 'legal' COA key by itself.
Legal COA keys come with the Microsoft DVD as a package.
For sure you will not be able to buy a 'Legal' Windows 7 key off of Ebay.
