A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing

    Hi,

I'm in the process of re-installing my W7 and ran into this problem. When I boot into the installer from my DVD, I get the error message "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing". I've watched all the videos on the topic and read quite a bit about other peoples experiences. Nothing has helped.

    BIOS detects the drive.
Windows 7 recognises everything just fine.
I installed W7 successfully several times the very same day without any problems. All my problems started after I went into Ubuntu and unmounted my DVD-rom. Something somewhere broke as a result and I have no idea how to fix it. But I'm sure there's nothing wrong with my DVD-rom or my installation DVD.

I downloaded an .exe of the drivers for my DVD rom and put it on a memory stick, but the installer isn't able to find it when I browse for it on my USB drive.

Not sure what else to try.

Did you go back into Ubuntu and remount the drive? Since that's what broke it, that may be how you can fix it.

Do you have ubuntu on another drive still plugged in ?

Unplug that drive and try again.

Fixed, had to install drivers for marvell controller from mobo drivers disc... i guess when i got the computer i must have needed to do that but i don't remember. When I unmounted it in linux, it must have deleted the drivers but that's a guess.
