    Easy transfer problem

Good day. I just purchased a new PC, and used Easy Transfer, via an external hard drive, to move my (Vista) files from my old PC. 1st part of the transfer went as it should; however, I can't complete the process. After clicking 'yes' to the 'already saved files to external...' question, the hard disk drives box opens. When I click 'open', however, my files and the transfer box do not appear as they should; instead, there's a folder named Recovery. When I hover over it, it shows the date created as 11/28/2016, with a folder named WindowsRE; when I click on that, all I get is "No items match your search".
There were already items stored on the external hard drive, which I'm assuming accounts for the date on the folder.
Any suggestions? Trying not to go crazy here. Right now I only have the basics set up on the new PC (using my iPad to talk at ya), so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx!

Hello again. I attempted to edit my original post yesterday, w/o success. As I no longer have the edit option, should I just start a new thread?

Here's the UPDATE: I've come to realize a lot of the info I originally posted is irrelevant. Here's how the issue should be laid out: I am able to transfer my files from my old PC to my external drive. For whatever reason, however, my new (Windows 7) PC cannot detect my external drive. When I get to the "new transfer file" box, the only drives shown are Windows C: and Recovery D:. Note: I'm in discussion with the seller of my new PC (as it's refurbished, I'd wondered if that could be a factor). He's suggested I check both the external drive connections and "disk management" - to no avail. Connections are fine, and disk management doesn't show my drive either.

Again, any help would be awesome! Thanx...

    Welcome to the forum.

Can you see the external drive in the bios??
Can you see the external drive using another computer??
Did you format and assigned a partition letter to the external drive??
