My Win7 machine'sMobo has an AMD Sempron 3200+ 2 Ghz CPU with 1 GB of RAM installed. (The Mobo's bussis capable handling an Athlon 64 X2 4800+ with RAM expandable to 4 GB.)
It's the Win7Home Premium edition so it doesn't have all the sophisticated networkingstuff bogging itdown. It's not connected to any network or the web so all related apps are disabled atstartup (thanks to Mark Russinovich's Autoruns program). And related services are set todisabled or manual. I have all the Win7 cosmetic features turned off.
I've tried to be thorough about installing updates. Currently I have 28-30 updates installed thatare not labeled as Security Updates and I'm sure it's benefited from any of them that haveto do with improving performance.
I run Check Disk(chkdsk) regularly and defrag once week whether it needs it or not. And thenrun the ResourceChecker (SFC).
Other than theabove I have no explanation for you as to why Windows 7 works fine on mysystem. Or as to whyVirtualBox's VM works so well although I no longer need it with the new dual boot setup.
