Yes your key will work to activate it.

There is no difference between a OEM installer or a Retail installer.

And I am not talking about Recovery Discs provided by the PC manufacturer.

The only difference between OEM and Retail was support.

And you better hope you can read the key on your COA, otherwise you`ll have to retrieve it with a program like Speccy.

Download Speccy | Find your computer specs, free!

Very strange, I have not heard of anyone having a problem before.
Are you sure that you selected the Ultimate version?
Are you sure you used the ISO that had the ei.cfg removed and not the original one?

    I hope this helps!

    Hi mahesh69,

    Very strange!

If you have still got the original extracted ISO (before removing the ei.cfg file) then edit the ei.cfg file and see what [EditionID] is says.

    I hope this helps!

Either reinstall or change the edition using dism. IIrc you need to sysprep before changing the edition.

To change edtion after sysprepping, boot into winpe , open cmd prompt and type:
[obviously, replace C with your Windows drive letter as seen from winpe]

    Dism /Image:C: /Set-Edition:Ultimate

Just download Windows 7 Ultimate from here, no need to remove anything.

    Hi AddRAM,

I gave him this information days ago:

    Then use the following information:

    Windows (Final) > Windows 7 SP1 (build 7601) > Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 > English > Win_Ult_SP1_English_x64.iso
I think he might have downloaded the Professional by accident, that's why I asked him to check the [EditionID] in the ei.cfg file.

    Ya, I know, that`s what I said :)

But, I don`t think he downloaded anything, he was scared, and he`s been trying to use his W7 Pro Iso that he already had.

If he would just download Ultimate he`d be done.

I mean we can`t make it any simpler then that. He should have been done and thanked you after your 1st post
