How to download Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit with sp1 retail image/iso directly from microsoft without a product key?
Hi mahesh69, welcome to Seven Forums,
You can download the ISO file from here:
TechBench
Then use the following information:
Windows (Final) > Windows 7 SP1 (build 7601) > Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 > English > Win_Ult_SP1_English_x64.iso
Obviously change the language and bit type to suit.
Then delete or rename the ei.cfg [ISO > Sources > ei.cfg] file (this will make all versions available) from the ISO and burn it to a DVD.
On the installation you can select whatever version of Windows 7 you have the Product Key for.
You will only be able to activate the version of Windows that you have a valid Product Key for.
I hope this helps!
Thanks but is this copy is official from Microsoft?
Because there are many site who provide Windows 7 iso download eg softlay
I have downloaded a file of windows 7 pro retail image/iso from microsoft but I didn't find ei.cfg dile is source folder at all?
Hi mahesh69,
The link I gave you is legitimate and will provide you with a genuine copy of Windows 7 with the latest build of 7601.
Where exactly did you download the file from?
Once you have extracted the contents of the ISO and found the ei.cfg file in ISO > Sources > ei.cfg you can either delete or rename it. Doing this will make all Windows 7 versions available. You then just need to burn it to a DVD or USB and use that to reinstall.
On the installation you can select whatever version of Windows 7 you have the Product Key for.
You will only be able to activate the version of Windows that you have a valid Product Key for.
I hope this helps!
I had Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OEM version pre-installed in my laptop not the retail Windows 7
On Microsoft site only retail product key works to download Windows 7 not the OEM
After downloading Windows 7 from site told..will it can activated by oem key of my windows
Hi mahesh69,
The ISO you have downloaded is NOT OEM (original equipment manufacturer software) but you can still use the Product Key on the COA (Certificate Of Authenticity) sticker located on the bottom of your computer (or in the battery compartment) for activation.
When doing the clean install, skip the enter Product Key screen. You can then enter the Product Key after you know the install has been successful and everything is running OK. You have a certain number of days in which to activate Windows anyway, which you will be prompted to do.
I hope this helps!
