Copy Domain Profile to Workgroup User

The PDC crashed and GlobalCatalog was irretrievably lost. Domain users are marooned.

    (No backup of course.)

    New server being built.

Domain users (mix of Win7 Pro & Win8.x Pro) need to be removed from destroyed domain.

AFAIK, that may mean convert their domain accounts to workgroup accounts.
Problem is, that MAY result in a new "virginal" profile.
I need an efficient way to copy the domain profile to a new workgroup profile (less REG files).
They will be joined to a new domain when it's available.

Is there a more efficient way of doing this?
(I couldn't figure out how to search for a solution)
    Thanks...

It may be down to how it was setup as often its set to use cached profiles when the domain is not on so people can use it at home in which case they login as normal nd get their profile

I'm more concerned with the local profile under \users but I take your point.

Each of these users has a local profile on his/her desktop.
That's the info I was aiming to salvage. Simply dropping the domain and switching to workgroup doesn't really cut it for me.
    Thanks for your reply...
