Hi SIW2, thank you for the reply, it is very much appreciated,
DISM++ I am not sure it will work. Normally those requiring exclusive access are installed after the others are completed ( the other updates you added to the install.wim are pending - not yet complete. ) The only way to find out is to install that updated install.wim and see what happens.
So am I right in saying, that once I have saved the image [after all the updates have been done], I need to export the install.wim to the same sources folder but call it install2.wim. Then unmount the image. Then goto the sources folder and delete the newly created install.wim and rename the exported install2.wim to install.wim. Will that work, and will it now be optimized please? One of the advantages of the cmd file I made is it does it all for you. It can also create a wim with ALL editions updated in a fraction of the time needed to do them individually.
You can use both. Install whatever updates you want using dism++. Important - install them into Image 1. Then run the 7update.cmd, say NO to updates and enter *. That will result in ALL images having those updates you put in image 1 and is fairly quick SIMPLIX Am I right in saying that the Create.iso.cmd includes being able to boot BOTH Legacy - MBR and UEFI - GPT? Thanks in advance. |

Thanks again for the reply SIW2,
DISM++ When I exported it yesterday, it didn't give me the option of what level of compression to use in DISM++! On the documentation that was given [as per below], it said that optimizing needed to be done because the save process produces a lot of junk data that increases the size of the wim. I just want to get rid of the junk and optimize the install.wim as they recommend. I will run through the whole process again tomorrow in case I missed something. ![]() Thanks again SIW2 ![]() EDIT: The above comes from here: Dism++ Documentation |

Hi goopy, welcome to Seven Forums,
To burn the ISO to a DVD you can use the Windows 7 built in ISO burner. To burn the ISO to a USB you can either use: Rufus 2.18 or hRufus 2.18 Portable. I hope this helps! |

Hi goopy,
Do you mean something like this? Either burn the ISO [you can't just copy and paste it because it won't work] to a DVD [if it will fit of course!] or a USB. To burn the ISO to a DVD you can use the Windows 7 built in ISO burner. To burn the ISO to a USB you can either use: Rufus 2.18 or hRufus 2.18 Portable. I hope this helps! |

Windows Media Player will not update media library I am a music downloader. It used to be that WMP12 would update the mp3 music folders to where the folder contents would read as follows: 01 'Track Name' 02 'Track Name' 03 'Track Name' and so on... This is no longer the case. WMP will not update my media library files, although it... |

How to get installation media? Hi, I've got an HP Pavilion laptop that came with Windows 7 installed as a Vista upgrade. I'd like to blow it away, repartition the disk for dual boot with Linux, and do a clean install of Windows 7. The only problem (I think) is that I don't have the installation media. I've searched online... |

Bad installation media I think Remember me? I'm the one with the pirated W7 Ultimate. I finally bought a genuine W7 Ultimate disk from Newegg for the tune of $310. Still working with MasterCard to get my money back. It looks favorable. When I went to do a clean install the auto-boot worked but it hung up with a blue screen... |
