    Windows 7 x64

Hi guys! So I've decided that I'm FINALLY going to install Windows 7 x64. I made a 58GB Partition (Primary) and I burned my x64 ISO to a DVD-R (16X). When I boot from the DVD, my manufacturer logo shows up (as normal) but then it doesn't ask me to Press Any Key to boot, it just says
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    1.

    Select CD-ROM Boot TypeBlinking Underscore)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
So I write 1 and press enter. It just stays on that screen with the blinking underscore under the one and no keys will work.

I did a quick Google but couldn't find any Windows users with this problem (Mac+Bootcamp is all there is).

Can anyone give me any help?

    Thanks in advance,
    ZeshanA

At the risk of giving insult:

Did you create a DVD from the image (.iso) or simply burn the .iso file as data to a DVD?

If you did the latter, you made a common error.

This may not be the solution, but their is a known issue with installing off of a DVD ISO when it is burned at a speed faster than 4x. Try burning it at the lowest possible speed then boot to it, make sure your partion is formatted properly and is made to be the primary partion so that the boot files are on it. Fabe

I used MagicISO to burn it. And when I open my DVD Drive in Computer it shows all the extracted files.

I burned it at 8X, thought it would work the same but faster. Obviously not. I'll try burning at 4X.

Step down the burn speed to as low as possible, 1x or 2x

Where did you get the ISO? Checksum the hash?

ImgBurn never fails. 4x with Verify.

    Good.

I installed Win7 on my two systems (one X86, one X64) using a USB flash drive. (Extracted the files from the .iso with MagicISO.)

Aside from any issues with a DVD burn, the installation is quite a bit faster with a flash drive, even a slowish one.

IMGBurn would only go to 4x. Well I burned another DVD. And the issue was still there. Decided to press one and enter again. Next thing you know I get the "Press Any Key to Boot From DVD/CD" Message. I'm typing this from 7 64-Bit. Not noticed much difference anyway.

    Thanks,

It's good to see it up and running. You aren't really going to see much difference between 32bit and 64bit unless you have more than 4GB of RAM or are using apps that are natively 64bit. And even then, your performance difference would probably only be 5% or so...and not very noticeable.
