Install program in Safe Mode Network with SYSTEM being real Dicktator

Can I please get some clarification on this? I’m having a similar issue but don’t want to make any changes to the registry wo being oostuve. I’ll start by saying I am NOT an IT PROFESSIONAL in any capacity but have been dealing with a number of issues over the past few weeks. That being said I know enough ugh about the field to bring to this impasse. Please, though don’t assume that I understand all of the intracacies of tech language. I’ll explain the situation to the best of my understanding. OS: Win7 home premium sp1 having severe issues with UAC. Their are two logon users. User 1 “ME” is the admin, user 2”seth” is the account that WAS the admin but is now just a user. only 1 person uses the laptop now. Currently the laptop is only accessible (as of 8/19/18 7pm cst) by ME: in safe mode, safe +cmd, safe+network BUT DOES BOT HAVE CANNOT SEE OR ACCESS through traditional method, the true C:\ (its as if it’s just not there and only contains superficial folders). User 2 or “seth” can logon to the same as ME except the C:\ IS the correct one and most folders are accessible, also I have successfully (Only once)booted normally AFTER running repair and then safemode first then to normal, but since freezes on normal boot and can only force shutdown or ctrl alt Del back to safe. I’ve run several diags, antimal, antiviral, which all came clear as far as HW, and most major SW. there were several “critical” and “severe” alerts in the log system event log. After several trials and failures I’ve managed to discover what the actual issue is, or so I have best concluded through reading page after page of threads and tech forums, posting questions of my own on TechNet conversing with multiple professionals. Please let me know if this doesn’t seem to be who ever reads this’ finding! This laptop was once a work laptop hooked to a corporate network but was then gifted to me by my brother in law, when I received it it was a mess so I did the usual disk clean up and changed the computer name, and changed the profile name to my own and removed several unwanted files and folders. No problem. Only, it turns out User “seth” was actually the default admin and that I changed the name unknowingly throwing off the ownership and permissions on a few things. Over the course of the next year weird things kept happening like having to approve myself even though I was logged on as admin ME, or being denied access as Seth but the folders opening anyway. Tried getting rid of seth through several methods but he just wouldn’t go away. Long story short, currently now the two can’t communicate properly with each other because the two parts of a whole have been split and admin ME has essentially been banished to safe mode(s) boot only. And Seth even though can access email internet and a few things can only boot safemode(s) also...whew.

Bringing me here, I’ve tried all the regular SYSTEM bypass methods and none have worked I still receive UAC prompts as seth and my adminME pass still works but most of the admin menus just don’t open after the prompt goes away. Be tried disabling UAC through regedit and cmd, nothing...I need files folders off this laptop and refuse to give up until I get them. Once retrieved I plan to use hirensboot USB key to clean install BUT first I have to dL malbyte and a few other anti programs on the affected laptop to clean it up so that their aren’t any issues booting from the usb...but as you know I can’t install in safe mode especially with thesis STRICT UAC bs enabled (tried enabling through menus...no good) but am hoping the that someone out there in the vast Internet forums universe can help but need some guidance and clarity on the matter. Anything will help at this point...

    Thanks &
10000 wizards wishes upon the one who can solve my dilemma!

    Hi dapperdanLAN,

    Welcome to SevenForums!

Is all you need from your computer is to access and copy specific files and folders?
If so, you can create a Win PE USB or DVD and access your drive. Here's a copy of a Win PE build by SIW2
    Win7_Repair_Tools_including_AOMEI.zip

Download the zip and extract contents (ISO) to your desktop

To burn to USB download and install Rufus 3.1 or use the portable version Rufus 3.1 Portable
Insert USB Flash Drive, open Rufus,
    Device choose your USB
Click Select navigate to Desktop and choose Win7_Repair_Tools_including_AOMIE.iso
Create a volume label, whatever you wish to name the USB Flash Drive
Click Start, when program finishes, click close.
You now have a bootable USB drive

To burn to CD/DVD, you can use a CD since the ISO is less than 750 MB
    Download ImgBurn and install it.
Insert CD or DVD in drive.
    Open ImgBurn
Choose Write image file to disk
Click folder icon to the right of Please select a file
Navigate to Desktop and choose Win7_Repair_Tools_including_AOMIE.iso
bottom left of ImgBurn window click the disk on paper --> disk icon
When ImgBurn completes you have a bootable CD or DVD

To boot from USB or CD/DVD
    Press computer start button
Immediately begin pressing, yes more than once, I believe it's the F12 key on your Lenovo lappy to enter boot menu
If that is not the correct key repeat with F11, F10, etc. until you access the boot menu
use up/down arrow keys to navigate to USB or CD/DVD and select it.
Your computer should now boot from that device. Loading Windows will appear at the bottom of display. After the desktop appears, wait a bit until networking, etc. loads, then you can close the popups, and click choose computer, menu that appears will have all your drives listed. If your USB is big enough you can copy and paste files, folders, etc to that or another USB flash or to DVD (4.7 GB max) or external hard drive, whichever you choose.

If you need a copy of Win7 Home Premium you can get it from TechBench

You will need your 25 character product key for reinstalling Win7x64 Home Premium, do you have it?

    Hey preciate the response!

So can you explain in a bit more detail? I just would like to ensure that whatever action i decide to do is the best course before proceeding. Truly i would i like to actually fix whats wrong with the laptop rather than just wipe it so that i can actually learn from my mistake as opposed to just starting from scratch, if you feel me on that one. however that being said i know some problems either are too complicated to fix or would take entirely too many man hours to fix. if thatis the case so be it.

I do need files and folders off the cpu, im currently being blacked at every path by SYSTEM in accessing and retrieving any files or altering any UAC settiings, permissions, or registry keys to be able to access said files.

I have hirens boot with a flash drive that i still need to turn into a key which i was going to use as a bootkey. someone else recently suggested in another forum said to simply prefrom an "in place upgrade" so that i didnt lose my files, thoughts on this?

    thanks a trillion

If you do an in place upgrade/repair install, it has to be done from within windows, you cannot do it from USB or DVD.

I'm not sure if you can do it in safe mode because it utilizes limited drivers, etc.). I don't believe that will work to correct the issue you have now as it reinstalls windows and your files, folders, programs, settings i.e. UAC ADMIN, GUEST, etc. is retained.

I'm in Michigan and it's time for this old bird to get some Zees!

I'll do a little research in the morning to see what/if repair install can be done from safe mode, but I don't believe it can.
Another idea, you can use AOMEI backupper, which is on SIW2's Win PE build to create a system image of your drive. You can use AOMEI to mount the disk and it will appear as a drive in computer. You can access any files, folders, programs, etc. to copy, you cannot paste anything into the backup file.

I tried magic jellybean key finder from SIW2's Win PE and it doesn't find the product key (CD key is what MJB calls it). That is necessary for an in place upgrade/repair install, however, if you perform a factory reset, you will not need the 25 character product/CD key! It will remove all your installed programs, files, folders, music, pictures, etc. and resets it to its original factory state.

I also do have a 500gb external HD to use as a backup and a seperate flash drive to use as the boot. both still need to be formatted tho. my plan had been to dL hirens on the dell running vista and to make the key on it and to format the external as well then use the external to back up the lenovo running win 7 and on the external, eject and then reboot with the flash. this was on advisement from someone on Tchnet forums. Good plan or no? and can your programs be substituted in place just as well?

    thanks

Per Brink SevenForums Tutorials Repair Install

You cannot do a repair install at boot or in Safe Mode.

from the link you just sent...maybe im missing something idk

"You can do a repair install on a factory OEM installation with the latest official Windows 7 with SP1 ISO file here: Microsoft: Windows 7 Direct Download Links, and use Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool to create a bootable DVD or USB flash drive with the ISO to do the repair install from within Windows 7."

i just cant use some other 3rd party program, right?
