Permissions on old SSD C: Drive - cannot copy files to new C: drive

I have taken a SSD drive out of my old computer (had windows 7Pro OS on it). I have put it in a USB case and would like to use it as an extra drive on my new windows 7Pro box.

I cannot copy my personal files from it because of Permissions. I've searched here in the forum but while I understand a bit about permissions, I don't understand how to fix this drive so I can use it. Is there something I can do so I can copy various personal files from this drive to my new drive?

Are my problems because there are also windows operating files on this second SSD?

Thank you for any advice. I'm not terribly computer literate but can follow directions pretty well.

    Just a thought!
Can you boot into Safe Mode?
If you can, you could copy the files onto a USB and transfer them.

Maybe this will also help => You don't currently have permission to access this folder.
And => "Access Denied" or other errors when you access or work with files and folders in Windows.

    I hope this helps!

We have a tool to make it simple to take ownership of the folders you want they will beowned by the users of the old pc so you will have to take ownership of all the folders you want to copy from Add Take Ownership to Context Menu in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials
