Snick,
Thanks for the input. If you get an op, please review the MG Diag Tool Report previously posted in this thread and let me know my best next steps to activate, register or reinstall Win 7 Pro 32 or 64-bit. |

Hi CluckeyJD,
sorry bout the delay, OK so the latest MGDiag confirms its an MSDN licence, however im somewhat confused by the error its throwing up, unknown as opposed to blocked, if max users has been reached. Im sending a message to the SuperGuru @NoelDP. Bear with us he's not that frequent a visitor nowadays Roy |

Could the "unknown" error be due to what you said about activation being done but not REGISTRATION on Microsoft (whatever the heck that means)? Also, please note that it didn't always do this until a few months ago. Wouldn't a legit 'unknown' key have been causing me grief from the very start?

Just saw this one...
Yes, the -222- channel ID is probably for an MSDN-type Product Key (I'm not 100% certain). Given the purchasing medium (i.e. eBay, ISO+Key) this makes it 99.99% certain to be classed as a counterfeit. The important error flag here is 'Notification Reason: 0xC004F063' This is caused when there is a mismatch between the license on the motherboard SLIC table, and the requester in the OS. It looks to me as if there was a some kind of hack installed to get around problems with activation - and something broke it. The motherboard is licensed for Vista rather than Win7 - |

'quote]... some kind of hack installed to get around problems with activation - and something broke it.[/quote] According to advertiser who sold me this key, it's tied to an old trashed out PC with a useless motherboard (?) Quote:

The -222- channel indicates that this is NOT a key retrieved from an old PC - such a key should have an -OEM- channel designator.
OEM Keys cannot be transferred to 'new' computers (which MS defines as being the motherboard), unlike Retail Keys. This is important for users of old computers, since if the motherboard fails, the license therefore goes down with it. The only theoretical exception used to be in the area of the big OEMs - where if the motherboard was replaced with another identical one from the same OEM, then the license could continue. |
