tried install Windows 7, I get a BSOD with igdkmd64.sys

So recently I attempted the jump from 32-bit to 64-bit in the form of Windows Vista 32 to Windows 7 64. My processor has 64-bit architecture (It's a Q9400), so I assumed if I did a clean install of windows 7 and formatted Windows Vista off of my hard drive completely, that I would not have an issue. When (I think) i'm almost done with the installation, and when windows is "starting up", the BSOD comes up with the error:

    "igdkmd64.sys

    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

    Technical information:

    *** STOP: 0x00000050 (0xFFFFF88103878FE6, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFF880049A51DB, 0xFFFFF880049A50000000000005)"

    [Could have misplaced a zero..]

Anyways, if anyone could me know what my problem might be.

    Specs:
    Intel DG43NB desktop motherboard
    4GB DDR2 @ 800mhz
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 processor

If any further information is needed let me know but I do not have the exact model names for the hard drives that I am using.

PS: ANY information will probably be helpful please I cannot find anything about this error really. Thank you for your time!

do you by chance have the original dmp file. Located in c:\windows\minidump.
zip them and upload to us using the attachment icon (see pic)

Have you updated your motherboard's BIOS to the latest version (released on November 13, 2009)? Have you disconnected all non-essential devices (everything except for the primary hard drive and onboard video) prior to installing 7?

    Problem fixed

I had to remove my video card and after that my download went smooth and rapidly! Got it installed in under half an hour rather than over 7 hours! Thanks all for the help! The reason I removed the video card was because the igdkmd64.sys I was talking about is related to my onboard video graphics accelerator and so I decided to remove all my non-essential hardware and then it worked!:)

mijitarms Welcome to SevenForums. Thanks for letting us know what resolved your problem. Was you able to add your graphics card back in and then pick up a driver for it? Did Windows update find one for you? Hope you enjoy the 7 and SF. Great Windows 7 How to's Windows 7 - Tutorial Index
