1. Looks for .iso image inside main script directory, then it unpacks first found .iso image.

If .iso image is not found, it checks if DVD directory contains already unpacked Windows 7 installation files (especially install.wim and boot.wim files). If yes, it will use it.

2. Checks whether the image is proper Windows 7 image (only single-architecture, single-language images are supported).

3. Asks user to choose image index (you could use eg. Windows 7 Professional only or all images available together).

4. Downloads all Windows 7 updates up to December 2019, including recommended updates, including IE11, NET 4.8, DirectX 9 June 2010, RDP 8.0 server and RDP 8.1 client.

This step is skipped if updates are already downloaded (and are available in hotfixes folder)
Is this step going to unavailable after the 14th? I guess the alternative will be to use Simplex and then manually put all of the update files/folders in hotfixes folder and all should be ok? The Simplex file I downloaded yesterday has 850mb worth of updates (compressed).

Also, is it likely you will post a final version of this script after the 14th Jan when the official support ends? Or should I just try and customize this one for my needs? In terms of my questions, I am not in an urgent hurry for any of this, I can take the time to do it right. It's a long term solution.

Like JonW i am also attempting to install Windows 7 (after using the Integrate7 script) on an AMD Ryzen based system. My hardware is:

AMD Ryzen 1600.
MSI B450I Motherboard (This does have Windows 7 drivers and a PS/2 port connection, the reasons i picked it).

The main issue i found was not having functioning USB mouse control. Andtech had this old article about the issue (and a rather complex solution it seemed):

How To Get Ryzen Working on Windows 7 x64

That MSI board i picked as it DOES have an old style PS/2 connector (which i put a keyboard in). On installing Windows 7 i could get through with just the keyboard, but once in the desktop i got a warning about Windows 7 not being fully supported by Ryzen and i needed to add other drivers. That was where the issues started as without a functioning mouse i could not access files on the desktop. I'm not even sure my USB keydrive would have been recognized to transfer the files across.

Using the keyboard to try to run the MSI drivers DVD only error out with a warning that it could not run as ",NET" was missing (it did not say which .NET). Probably with the mouse i could have gone inside the DVD and ran the specific .exe files but the DVD installer would not run as is.

There are lots of reports around the internet on how MS was really trying hard to stop hardware vendors carry on supporting WIndows 7, and the kind of issue i ran into above was one of those hurdles.

It should be possible to get around by installing the USB drivers inside Integrate7, however using the latest version build it would not burn to DVD-DL (it errors out right at the end of 'finalizing' the burn with a 0xC0AA0301 error).

The only build i have been able to get working was one i did a few months back (and which does not have the USB drivers included).

One other option is as i do have that PS/2 port i can opt to plug the mouse into that (i have a usb-PS/2 convertor) and during install of the Intergrate7 Windows 7 disk and bring up the 'accessibility options' via it's icon, which you can then select 'on-screen keyboard' from to enter your PC name and password etc.

As long as i have mouse function i 'should' be able to access the files i need to get Ryzen happy with Windows 7.

Also i could just buy a new 8GB USB keydrive and use rufus to burn Integrate7(with USB drivers) Windows 7 onto that.

Just thought i'd put this all out there just in case others are running into the same kind of issues i have been having yesterday. Over the weekend i should have it all sorted out :)

@jason2704, wkeller provides a no added USB driver (or other additions like RAID etc) version of the script. That was the one i was using.

---------------

UPDATE: ok so the way around my issue was to insert the MOUSE into the PS/2 port and use a USB keyboard/or the on-screen keyboard. My USB keyboard was broken (water spill from kid ages ago!) but i plugged it into one of the USB 2,0 ports next to the PS/2 port and it was recognized fine. I then used the on-screen keyboard to enter the details like PC name and password and my Windows 7 key to allow the installation to finish.

After that i was able to use those same USB 2.0 ports with a USB keydrive to flash my BIOS to the newest version and add the all important AMD Windows 7 chipset drivers. The motherboard DVD for those would not run due to an issue with missing .NET framework (and some Windows Updates, it never specified which exactly), but i was able to use the mouse to get into the DVD and run the chipset drivers (and a few others) from the direct install files in the DVD's folders.

So as of now Windows 7 Pro (Integrate7 version) and Ryzen 1600 are all working fine as is the rest of the motherboard and RAM (at their full 3000Mhz speed). The GPU took it's drivers fine as well and the system is now basically ready for tweaking and building up. I'll do the process of moving the license over from my old machine to this one (while MS still have support for this!) and then see if i can resolve the motherboard DVD rom not running issue via Windows Updates etc (once i have got rid of MS blocking my access to them because of Ryzen+Windows 7 - what a 'nice' company!).

Thanks wkeller for this awesome tool

Good to hear about your success Zak! It seems with some trial and error and perseverance it should be possible to get all of these situations working, but with different motherboard brands, and install versions etc.. the method for each person might be slightly different. I spent the last few days learning as much as I could about the whole process and am now at the stage of choosing isos to use as a base.. and figuring out which updates to include etc. In terms of my Windows DVD ISO, it stopped working.. got stuck in the DVD drive.. and it seems they both don't work anymore.. so yeah, a bit of a disaster (but they are both very old).

So buying a new DVD drive now.. and expect in the next few days to have an ISO unmounted and will be building my new custom installation.. and hopefully will have no problems. Using one of the scripts of Intregrate7 or 7UP to bring the updates right up to 2020.. and then including the newer drivers.. and then a few programs and custom stuff. If there is any issues.. some trial and error should figure it out. It will take a while, but if I have to go to so much trouble.. I may as well add some of my custom stuff in there. In the future, I plan on having a 16 or 32GB USB drive.. with multiple versions of customized windows installs that works with both AMD and Intel systems. I found that the program WinSetupFromUSB is able to do this. It's even able to split the file, if it's too large. And you can do one OS now. And then 6 months later add a second OS to it. Or even recovery utilities. And then during the boot loading screen after reboot, select which one you want to use. So that sounds like an interesting thing for the future.

Thanks to this forum for being a valuable resource, and the sharing of people's experiences to help figure all of these things out. I am not favouring any one tool over the other, I appreciate all of them.. and will likely try all of them out and see which one works best for that use case. But the fact that there is so many of them, is a very fortunate thing for all of us. Especially, since there are so many hurdles thrown in front of us.. for those who enjoy Windows 7 and want to keep using it.

Just to say that after following all Wkeller's advice he gave me (re the whole process and fixing windows update errors etc - just go back through the thread for all those details) and using this tool i have fully successfully installed Windows 7 on a Ryzen CPU and got around all the hurdles MS ensured would be in the way!

I have an on-going write up of the whole build process (hardware and OS) on the Linux Mint forums here if anyone is interested and can find it helpful:

So just another big thanks to Wkeller for taking the time and effort to make this period of Windows 7 ownership that little bit better. Thanks Sir!

I happily have been test-running The Witcher 3 on the new build and it all runs smooth as silk with temps all perfect. Your tool and this thread was a big part in making that happen.
