Is this thread up to date for burning an ISO file to USB?

    Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool

Is the above link a good one for creating a bootable USB drive with a Windows ISO file on it?

I'm starting out with trying to get all my ducks in a row for when support ends for Windows 7 and I did see that I need to create a bootable USB drive with the W7 ISO file on it.
But when I read other threads about creating a bootable USB drive, they say "To burn the ISO to a USB you could either use Rufus 3.3 or Rufus 3.3 Portable: Create bootable USB drives".

The ONLY place I've seen info on using the Windows7-USB-DVD-tool.exe file to create a bootable USB drive for installation of Windows 7 (Pro), is from the link I posted above.

I have downloaded the Windows 7 Pro 64Bit ISO file from Microsoft. It's labeled: Win7_Pro_SP1_English_COEM_x64.iso

Could someone please clarify/help/ and or straighten me out with this?!?
    Thanks, Steve in Central Vermont

I use Rufus, or WintoBootic, they have always worked great for me.

But it also depends on exactly what hardware you are going to install W7 on.

Give us that info and we`ll continue.

WiNToBootic bootable usb drive windows vista/7/8 - Bootable USB | Bootable USB

and I stick with Rufus 2.18, there are newer versions, I just have not needed to use them yet.

If you are going to install W7 on a M.2 then you also need to have its driver on the usb stick.

You can always just burn the Iso file to dvd too.

If you are using your Z97 than you should have no problems if you use a dvd or usb stick plugged into a black usb 2.0 port, and plug your keyboard and mouse into a black usb 2.0 port also.

Firstly, I agree with what AddRAM has said.

[1] As far as I know the link is still a valid way of achieving this!
[2] I normally recommend Rufus because you can also use it with UEFI, the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool does not work with UEFI!

    I hope this helps!

RUFUS for the win. I have used it to create a bootable USB from the Windows 7 installation ISO. I have successfully installed Windows 7 from my USB flash drive to UEFI as well as legacy BIOS computers.
