    ei.cfg OEM RETAIL BS! :(

Everyone keeps saying you can change the ei.cfg var channel to OEM and install 7 that way, yet I've done this on two different copies I've downloaded and say if I downloaded x64 ultimate retail, but I need home premium OEM x64, I change edition ID to HomePremium and Channel to OEM, when I go to run it on the computer I need to install it on I get this "the product key entered does not match any of the windows images available for installation. Enter a different product key."

    [EditionID]
    Ultimate
    [Channel]
    Retail
    [VL]

Please help me! I got in this situation by ordering a x32 home premium copy, I got it in the mail w/ the disk. Realized I needed x64 premium and my deadline is today, so I ordered x64 premium from my guy who is several states away, he scanned the oem key and emailed it to me but I still need the disk which takes several days to get here, is there a way I can make this work?!

Hi there, just delete the ei.cfg file. No need to edit it. During setup, it'll ask you to choose which version to install.

It takes more than that to change a retail version to an OEM version Im afraid....

The first version I downloaded was Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate x64 OEM without the ei.cfg file. I burned it like it said to, went to go perform an upgrade on the vista x64 home premium os and it doesn't give me a choice of ultimate/pro/home/etc. I even tried going the clean install path and it still doesn't give me a choice, but I view the disk and ei.cfg is missing. Whats up with this?

Also does anyone know where I can get a legit x64 home premium copy? or a copy I can get to work as home premium x64? This version I mentioned above was one I found on isohunt.

Maybe pm me a link to the digital river download for it please? Thanks.

Already bought an oem x64 premium, dont have the disk yet, need the disk now. Don't need any cracked crap or illegal crap, and don't need to buy another copy, and especially not an upgrade copy. I already have a few grand invested in several professional x64 copies that are on their way and should be here tomorrow but I need it today

Why does everybody have public RETAIL downloads but no public OEM downloads than I can find (yet?)

Because people who pirate want the retail versions rather than OEM copies. And as we learned from MS...regular people aren't intended to use OEM...just actual OEM system builders.
