    Too many Win7 profiles

I've been setting up the Gateway (Gate in the network) machine in my sig, with Win 7. I had some issues that are too long to explain, but the result is that I had to make a profile 3 times before I got one that works. It's supposed to be named "Prize-02" and I deleted the old ones in the Ctrl Panel>User Accounts each time I made a new one.

CTL Panel>User Accounts shows just the first one and Admin.

    In C:\ Users I have
Prize-02 (supposedly the one I'm finally using)
    Prize-02.Gate
    Prize-02.Gate001
    Prize-02.Gate002

Which is fine, because I thought I was using just the first one. I just found that it's using AppData and maybe other files from 2 or 3 of the profiles at the same time or maybe just the wrong one.. It's a mess. I don't know where to copy over my FF, TB, Classic Shell and other profiles from this computer.

I MUST use identical ID's on the 2 network machines, so must be called Prize-02.

From your start menu click on your name. Then from the library right click on all of the major listed shell folders such as documents, music, desktop, downloads, favorites, pictures, videos, and saved games, select properties, and then the location tab. That will tell you which of those folders are in use.

Using group policy, can I delete ALL the previous usernames? All my data is on the D partition, so I don't care about losing the "documents" "videos" etc folders, because I don't use them.

I don't use the Library or those folders. Data is all on the D partition. Only AppData with all the program user data is in the usual place.

Can't logon "The group policy service failed this logon. Access is denied." But I can logon to Admin.

    Hi Rowin7,

in that case have a look for 1-5-21 entries here >> Hotkeys Users
1000 & 1000 classes are the norm for an Admin account
If you have 1001 or 1002 etc then these are additional accounts
You can delete them but im not sure which will relate to Prize-02 (It/they should have a descritpter label)

    DONT FORGET TO BACK-UP FIRST

Was that first line supposed to be a link?

How would I delete accounts in Group Policy? I don't use that feature very often. I'm willing to delete all accts except Admin acct and start again, as the installation is only a few days old.

    Hi Rowin7,

No not a link - Open regedit then >> hkey users > expand > then you'll see 1-5-21 entries

I did it in Group Policies using the Admin account. I created a new Prize-02, but 2 of the others are still in Explorer. I started deleting them, Win told me I couldn't because they're shared with other users. So I used Unlocker, but there are still 3 total.

I can tell by the desktop icon collection that it's using Prize-02.Gate. I'm going to leave it. I had wanted to make that my primary machine because the hardware is better than in this one. But I think it's going to be wonky a lot more.

    Thanks to you both.

There is nothing like a clean install.
Why don't you do a Factory restore?
