I have a question since this is the 2nd time in a day someone has suggested inserting a purchased higher version key using Anytime Upgrade:
Do these Anytimes have to be purchased directly from MS? Or is it a way to unlock higher version features and insert a valid retail key from any source?
IF NOT, I would extract the Premium files from DVD, delete ei.cfg from Sources, then use Vlite to recompile into an ISO to burn to a new DVD giving you a useful all-versions installer.
You tried what?
If you entered the Ultimate key in "Change product key" in the System window - you have a different Edition installed.
Not surprised it says the key isn't valid.
GREG - that is in the tut I already linked:
Bootable ISO -Easily Create from Installation Files
Afaik - you can't "upgrade" just by putting a higher Edition Product key in.
To do the Windows Anytime Upgrade
Either go directly to the website address or by using the Windows Anytime Upgrade feature included in the Control Panel.
If he has only the product key - he will need to remake the .iso as an all edition one - then install using that and the new key.
(That assumes the key is valid - and it is the only way I know to find out)
Kegobeer (love that name) it was 20.99 and from his listing he was safe to buy from his seller info icechillwill10 Item number 1804370844947
sorry new to this all I tryed to use the upgrade anytime
Thank you for all your help in this I will try to use the bootable iso
