Windows 7: Replacing drive 1 with Larger

When you boot from a USB drive like MR rescue disk, it loads a OS that can be WinPE or even Linux.
I don't have a USB MR rescue disk drive so I can't say what it has.
Lets suppose it has WinPE. You can install the network drivers. Open disk manager and look for yellow alerts of missing drivers.
Update your Lan and Wan driver.
Unfortunately, all changes will be lost, as WinPE runs on a RAM disk.

A good rule to follow is to have all drivers installed, even if you don't use the device.
Open device manager. Is there any yellow alert of missing drivers?

I'm wondering if MR's report of no drivers for LAN/WiFi was a bug or fluke of sorts.

No, there are no flags against a device.

And to support my bug thinking--

When I ran MR's boot environment to drive C, MR does not report any missing drivers.

When Lenovo runs its periodic Dx of the entire hardware system, it comes out clean.

Obviously, the drivers are present on C since she connects to the LAN and WiFi and I easily found them.

Once I figure out my latest problem of finding/getting another 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 storage converter for the new SSD (separate thread I started yesterday), I'll rerun the USB creation.

When I do, and if the build reports missing network drivers and provides a screen for you to manually add the drivers, do you know if that screen allows you to add more than 1 driver?

You can have more than one driver but the device is only associate with one.
From device manager you can find the hardware ID of the device and search for a new driver on the net.

Right click on the device - properties -Details tab - Device ID (on pull down arrow)
It is a sting something like PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_E0001458&REV_15

Not to belabor the point, but why would I want a new driver if the current drivers not only are working but the Lenovo system update does not find any newer drivers, just suggests a BIOS flash (which I'm not about to do and add more potential problems ;-)!).

It was a answer to your question "do you know if that screen allows you to add more than 1 driver?"

Clone new larger drive...?
Hi... I tried to clone a smaller system hdrive (750 GB) Seagate, with a 1TB Seagate. I used Seagate DiscWizard. I ended up with a problem or two. 1. DiscWizard completed successfully, but it shrunk the 1TB partition to match the old hdrive of 750GB. I was hesitant to use the free ease4us...

C: Drive swop drive for larger faster one?
I own a legal Windows 7 Pro 64bit OS. I mistakenly loaded this onto a new 500GB 5400rpm drive thinking that it would be much quieter as I have another four 7500rpm SATA drives running with two of them in RAID 1 for photograph and documents. Of course now i find that the 5400rpm speed is much too...
