Attempted repair install. Got stuck on the transfer files step: 72%.
I had to restore a full system image that I had made immediately before I initiated the repair install, because—although the repair install appeared to be going smoothly at first—once it got to the "Transferring files, settings, it managed to get most of the files transferred (according to the information given on the screen), but when it was pretty close to being done (based on the number of files that it says it went through, not based upon the percentage, which was 72%), it stalled on what appeared to be one file. Perhaps if it had gotten through that file, it would have stalled on another. I don't know.
I have need of easy access to my computer for academic usage, not just for casual use. So I would like if I would be able to successfully complete the repair install as soon as possible.
Now, this probably has nothing to do with it, but could the completely empty, unallocated 15 GB partition that seems to refuse to merge back with my main C-drive have something to do with this? It used to be part of a GNU/Linux dual boot that I got rid of ages ago. If not, forget that I mentioned that. I just want to get this repair install done.
And, before you ask, a full-wipe-and-reinstallation is not acceptable in my situation. So it is important that the focus be on successfully completing the repair install.
