You have 4 bad sectors that indicate that your disk has a surface damage (cant be repaired). Your disk may be dying.
Save all your data on another disk.
This kind of disk failure can explain the crashes you're having.
Replace it with a SSD. They cost almost as much as a first line HDD.
Crucial BX500
WD Blue
Do a clean install (don't clone it).

For the updates, use Simplix.

Great , thanks a lot, I will do that.
Hopefully that is the issue.

...out of curiosity, what'd happen if I clone the installation? Would it copy the bad sectors to my new SSD or HDD?

Thanks,

The data on the bad sectors is corrupted and will be lost (total or partial). If this data is from OS files you may transfer the problems to the new drive.

I strongly suggest you to do a clean install.

An alternative to a clean install is to clone the HDD into the new drive and then do a Repair Install

A still strongly suggest you to do a clean install.

For the updates, use Simplix.
