Help!

I hope mine isnt a clone.. paid AUD450 for it..
And yes I did run the 7 Compatibility advisor before installing 7, and everything was fine.

No, there has to be a clone made of the HDD first, then when it is started up on the cloned-to HDD, Windows can throw certain fits sometimes trying to figure out whether it is licensed to that machine..

It may have viewed the copy operation across the disk as some kind of clone, even though it was on same HDD. That's all I can figure out. I hope someone reads this all who knows.

Check your activation to make sure it held: right click Computer>Properties, scroll down.

Did you try your DLink driver in Compatibility Mode?

Yes i just finished installing it in compatibility mode.
After installing do I need to remove the wireless card and put it back in?

No just uninstall the DLink software in Control Panel and Device Manager, then run setup with the compatibility mode set to Vista, as Adminsitrator.

Hopefully this works, cross fingers...

uhmm at the bottom right there is the wireless bar thingo. that shows the connection. theres two one windows using and another Dlink's. Maybe they are conflicting with each other? because in Vista only D-lInk's was there

I would let Windows manage my wireless connection in Win7, as it is highly automated with a troubleshooter that actually can fix the connection if necessary.

The other reason is that DLink is notorious buggy and much inferior to Windows software. I never let an adapter run its own software if Windows can cover it.

See what your options are on Dlink adapter in systray by rightclicking. I would at least hide it, and maybe close it. You can always reopen it in All Programs list. In fact, go over the Preferences in the program itself to turn it off long enough to see if works better.

Did you notice during install if it gave you an option to use Windows Network Connections to manage the DLink adapter? If so, suggest your uninstall and reinstall again to select that. Believe me, it almost always works better. But if it doesnt here, then you can change it.

Nope it doesnt give me the option to choose Windows network connection while installing. I did a trouble shooting thing on Windows network diagnostics and it says Your computer appears to be correctly configured but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding
Troubleshooting was unable to automatically fix all of the issues found.

Is your network performance where you want it?

I think you should try what I do with all of our network adapters:

Turn off the DLink software. Just let Windows run the driver.

See if it is any better.

If you can't turn it off completely, uninstall it in Control Panel, restart the computer and see if it reinstalls just the driver.

If not, see if there is still a DLink folder in C: Program files to browse from Device Manager for driver.

If not, start Setup in Vista compatibiity mode again from desktop folder, let it install to DLink folder in Program files, then cancel the Installation.

In Device Manager click on DLink Net Adapter Driver Update and browse to Program files to find driver to install.
