I just tried D:setup.exe and it brings up the Win 7 installer GUI. Dude knows his stuff!

Yeah it is still drive D:
How do i get .iso of it?
U think that flash will run from Task Manager any better than DVD?
He is not getting full functionality from Task Manager. I am getting these things to run in mine. His is bonked.
How badly do you need your current Win7 installation?
Because in 20 minutes you could have a new install replaced on that partition without touching your data partition, booting from DVD and formatting it.
But if you want to try to save it, we will find a way if you are not in a hurry.
Remember also there is the regedit given in the Technet thread about this error? Can you get into regedit from Task Manager>Applications>New Task>regedit
OK pop in your USB stick, open an elevated command prompt and type;
diskpart
list disk
select disk # (#= your USB drive)
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
format fs=fat32 quick
assign
exit
exit
Then copy the files from the DVD to the USB stick, so the USB sticks contents look like the contents of the DVD (if ya know whadimean!)
(It's worth a shot me tinks, the fact that TM/explorer isn't recognising his DVD drive is a worry, it might still recognise the USB stick though????)
Tbh i dont mind doing a clean install. We've been at this for hours. Lol
