Hi Gerrie52,
Welcome to SevenForums! [2] How are you trying to install Win 7 [from a DVD/USB/ISO]? [3] How old is the laptop? [4] Does it have a HDD or SSD? [5] Has it got USB3 ports? [6] Does the laptop work at the moment? The best and easiest way to create an updated installation media => Update your Win 7 installation media.. I hope this helps! |

Please wive us ALL hardware specs of the laptop. It will help us to help you.
Modern laptops has a hardware (USB, SATA, MVMe) that requires some drivers that isn't on the Win 7 installation disk. To install Win 7 on this new hardware you need to add those drivers to the Win 7 installation disk. |

To install win 7, you MUST boot from the DVD installation disk as UEFI if your BIOS is UEFI compatible,
Then go to install - Advanced - delete ALL partitions - proceed. Clean Install |
