Install sequence of drivers after clean install
Hello all,
I have just made a clean install W7 on HP 650 ProBook from a HP service pack 1 disk. Which driver should I install first and how upload it to laptop as it has no graphics driver or internet driver. I have a spare machine to use to download drivers. I can get all other drivers from a site after I have internet connection! I have plugged in a hard cable to my wifi but still no network connection! All replies very welcome. Thanks. Jonathan. |

Hi on a internet connected machine go to hp support site and download the chipset driver if their is one and the network drivers then put them on a flash drive or dvd and transfer them to the hp and install the chipset driver then restart then install the wifi or lan driver then get the rest from hp support site when hp is connected to internet. be helpful if you listed the full model number of the hp you should state that you posted on another site same question as in this thread Driver issue/Sequence of driver upload after clean install - Tech Support Forum

Thank you for your reply.
I have found the HP support site with the drivers for chipset...but there are 3. Also there are 16 Network drivers to choose from. Which should I choose, all? My serial for my 650 g1 is cnu4149m3k will that help. Apologies for not stating I had posted on another site..I have a rare day off from work and wanted to complete the reinstall, so posted on another site to maybe get a reply sooner. Sorry. Thank you, Jonathan. |

do the first one in the list under chipset. then to find out what you need for network go to device manager and see what is listed then download the driver you need and transfer to the hp.

Hi Jonnya777,
Under the heading msinfo32 [MS System Information] - Problem Devices . . ., please run MS_Info32_Find_Problem_Devices.bat, Option [2] from here => BATCH PROGRAMS [Standalone] and then upload the results using the tutorial at the bottom of the above link [Upload to SevenForums . . .] and someone will look at it for you. NOTE: The reason I link to the thread above rather than posting the .bat file here is because it makes it easier if I have to amend the batch script. This way, I only have to amend it and upload it to one location. I hope this helps! |

Im just about to press the button on the hp support assistant to upload all the appropriate drivers... It has identified my machine...through the serial number..but will it upload the right drivers not the w10 drivers or will it auto load the w7? Thanks, Jonathan. |

On support page it will ask you if you want change the os. Then manual download the drivers needed and install. Are you online with the hp?

yes Ive seen that page to change the os...it comes up with a big list of drivers to download...
Im in the support assistant (which is separate webpage ) which I logged into and I think it automatically detects my device..there doesn't appear to be an option to check if its installing win7 drivers... |
