Windows Boot Manager Woes...

Boot into the Win7 DVD and choose Custom install, then Advanced drive tools: Delete all, create New partition(s) as needed, then Format.

This is a quick format and will just delete the MBR. All other data including viruses is still there to be overwritten.

The only way to wipe completely the infections you have is to zero out the drive using either DBaN or GWScan.

If you want to make sure the infection which got into your XP installer is not in the Win7 DVD then download Spybot SND and run it on the DVD in another computer. It should not spread sitting in the DVD tray.

Alright, I did that. There were two partitions, one that took up the majority (236gigs) of the hard drive, and one that took up only 9gigs, tops. The one that took up 9 gigs couldn't be deleted or formatted; the options to do so were greyed out. So I formatted the larger partition, and I'm now reinstalling Windows 7 on it.

*edit* Once the install is complete, I'll download DBaN and wipe it completely clean, then do a fresh install of Windows 7.

SUCCESS! Reformatting that partition did wonders. Now when I reboot the computer, it goes straight into Windows 7. Now to make sure that nasty virus isn't still around...
