HP 800 mini G3 black screen when install Windows 7 BIOS CSM/MBR disk

    HP 800 mini G3, shipped with Windows 10. It's Intel skylake CPU (i5-6500T processor 6th generation/Intel HD Graphics 530).

I was trying to install Windows 7 x64 on CSM mode/MBR disk but got black screen after Windows logo before "Install now".

The install media was combo of media by SIW2 adding skylake driver by Atak_Snajpera. mouse just worked fine (mouse cursor moving on black screen). hinted USB3 port ok.

Anyone got success on this, or similar install (Intel skylake CPU 6th gen)? how can I fix the video/black screen issue. it must need a proper driver and setup.

    Thanks,

btw, on this MBR disk there are existing files on other partitions. hence, I prefer MBR disk. GPT disk looked ok in my install test.

    not yet,

If shipped with WIn10, will HP cloud recovery still work?

Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10, 7)

I have installed Win 7 on my Skylake desktop and have installed on a friend laptop.

I would say that the issue is on the Win 7 installation files.

How much RAM does it have?

It's 16GB. it's shipped with Windows 10. If Windows 7 install, 16 GB should be fine.

Some manufactured PC is with white list. no way to install Windows 7, no matter CSM enabled or NOT. such as Lenovo PC.

Thank you for the file. I will try.

I think I have the hp media for the 800 g3.

I had written on it 800 g4 but it is actually for HP EliteDesk 800 G3 TWR

there are two wim files, both are extracted onto the same fat32 formatted usb stick

you should be able to get the exact one for your machine from the cloud recovery tool.

Thanks for the link. I am downloading it. will try.

so far, no luck. I have tried media offered by IDs in this thread, including Atak_Snajpera.

On Windows 10/11, some python pyautogui needs "Run as admin", a big trouble. I cannot fix that. have to go Windows 7. (I have asked ChatGPT. same suggestion "Run as admin". )

    No,

I am waiting for my oncoming 32GB USB drive.

the HP tool requests size 32GB (even for Windows 7, no matter full package, or driver only). I did try 16GB (that's what I have this week). HP tool wouldn't enable Write (grey). Hence, I failed to go next (I was thinking Win7 driver only, but HP still asked 32GB).

Do you know any way to make it local?
If local *.ISO file, that will be much easier. at least, Microsoft offers this option when download Windows 10/11.

it will download the big wim files %appdata%\local\temp

then it extracts them to the usb stick.

but it wont do the download unless it finds a suitable usb stick first.

I dont know how to emulate usb stick in windows.
