Can I move my SSD after installation?

    Hi

I have a Thinkpad T440P, which has a DVD-drive in the Ultrabay. I bought a Ultrabay caddy and a new SSD, and
I want to install a fresh copy Windows7 into the caddy. Problem is that my Windows7 Recovery disks are in CDs format.

So, would the following steps work?...
    (1) put SSD into main drive bay,
    (2) then, install Win7 into the SSD in the main drive bay, using the DVD drive in the Ultrabay,
    (3) then, take the DVD out of the Ultrabay,
    (4) then, take the SSD out of the main drive bay,
    (5) then, put the SSD into the Caddy,
    (6) then, put the Caddy into the Ultrabay,
    (7) then boot Win7 with the Ultrabay drive.

In other words, can you move a Windows-installed SSD into a different drive bay?

    Thanks!

    yes your suggestion sounds ok.

before removing the cdrom drive, it is a good idea to copy your recovery/installation media either to iso file or by extracting to usb stick in case you need it in future.

free version of anyburn "copy disc to image file" should do the job.

    Download AnyBurn

I use winiso which has more features:

    WinISO Store
