Yeah, I love Ventoy, use it myself. Just used it a few days ago to run Memtest86 and test some RAM I bought on eBay for a Mini ITX computer I'm putting together as an ARK Survival Evolved server.

At archive.org many people have their own little Windows live ISOs and I've been playing with some of those.

My apologies, I've been exceedingly busy with Real Life over the last couple of days, and haven't had a chance to try anything. I will report in when I have the chance. My thanks to everyone for their help.

Both links I gave you in my PM work just fine for me in portable Firefox. Here they are again, they point to the same file.
I'm sorry, sir. Ventoy doesn't seem to recognize the TIBX file that I have. It's useless to me, or I don't understand how to use it. You may use it every day, but this is my first time, and this interface is anything but accessible to a first time end-user. It's quite confusing, and unclear. I don't think Ventoy is going to solve my problem, unless you can explain specifically how I can get Ventoy to read the TIBX file that I have, and install it on a hard drive. The guide you linked me to, does not explain things in a way I can understand - what do I do with the TIBX file? What purpose does Ventoy serve in the process of getting the TIBX file to read on my computer, so I can see the files inside of it, and ensure everything is correct within that TIBX file, which contains a version of Windows 7 that should work on my new hardware?

I apologize for my lack of experience with these tools, and my lack of knowledge in this area. Would the Acronis Rescue Disks that you linked me to, be able to read the TIBX file, and allow me to examine it? It doesn't seem like rescue disks would have that kind of capability, but I may be wrong. I want to make sure before I spend several hours downloading the file.

ventoy does not read tibx files.

ventoy creates a usb stick onto which lots of different iso files can be copied.

    *************************************************************************************

After the bootable usb stick has been created with ventoy, just copy and paste the acronis .iso file onto it.

then boot from the usb stick and select the acronis iso from the menu

acronis will load from the iso and it is acronis that can deal with tibx files.

The acronis main window will have buttons on it saying things like backup and another button will say restore ( or something similar)

select the one that says restore and it will open a browse window. Browse to the tibx file.

then you need tell it where to restore the image to.

    ****************************************************************************************

I expect that tibx file is a disk image therefore you will need a blank disk attached to the machine to restore it onto.

or a disk with stuff on it that you don't want because it will be overwritten by the restore.

Make sure you point the acronis restore process at the correct disk. It will probably ask you to confirm before it proceeds with the restore.

Sir, thank you. I was completely confused about all of this - your instructions make perfect sense. I can't thank you enough. I will try this as soon as I can. I have several spare USB sticks and some extra DVD-R's - does it matter if it's a USB stick or a DVD-R that I restore the TIBX file, to?

restore it to a disk , not a disc. Either sata ssd, nvme ssd , or mechanical hard disk .

It is an image of a working operating system and necessary partitions.

I dont know how big the disk should be - at least 256gb I would think. You will find out the size of the disk when you look at the tibx with acronis.

Aha! Thank you! I thought that might be what you meant, but I wasn't sure - since we'd been talking about USB sticks. This is no problem, I have three spare Hard Drives of various size, and an SSD inside the new host computer if I need it. I shall report back once I have something to report. My thanks again! You have no idea what this means to me.

It is not complicated, should be obvious when you see it.
