Repairing Windows 7 Ultimate that won't boot up

    Hi all

This my first post so apologies in advance if I have posted in the wrong subgroup.

I had Windows 7 Ultimate set up on a hard drive that was working fine a few years ago but when I put the HD into a spare PC it wouldn't boot up. The existing folders and files that I have checked seem to be intact and I even found the key using Recover Keys software.

But I have no idea how to make it bootable again, so I would be grateful for any advice that any of you folks can provide.

How different is the new hardware? If it doesnt support csm that adds extra difficulties.

Either sysprep before moving or use an "adjust to new hardware" module.

    Fixed !

    Hi SIW2

Thanks so much for the detailed information and the link.

Burnt the software to a DVD and then booted up from the DVD, software loaded then followed the instructions and it was all fixed in less than a minute !

Just needed to add an entry for it to the EASYBCD menu and now I have the old system back again with everything intact.

    Thanks again!
