    been reading your earlier thread (2023) regarding max ram limitation
    you stated upgrading to Pro solved the problem
    If the DVD your using is the Home Version it will also report this error

    Anyway please run KB947821... SURT (system repair tool)
    post the logs --- NOT RAR format

    could you run this tool as well copy/paste the output, might also shed some light on the prob

    Under Windows, open a CMD as administrator and type:
    Winver
    Post the results here.

    Insert the Win 7 installation DVD.
    Open a CMD as administrator and type:
    dism /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:E:\sources\install.wim (replace E with the correct drive letter)

    i can tell you that the product key in use is from another OEM comp, not neccessarily Dell,- ending 4X77H
    MS are likely blocking you because of the following

    Don't know what else is going but your Office 2003 is also non-genuine blocked Volume licence

    his back-end In-built product key is for home, so he'll have download/install that, then upgrade
    (reckon the original recovery partition is long gone)

    I just noticed that you started this thread two months ago. Why don't you do a clean install of Windows 7 and be done with it.

    BTW, I just did a clean install of Windows 7. It's really quite easy.

    The W7 key is a new install, BTW, because I had only purchased the "Professional" edition very recently.I want to make it clear that the "Windows VII Professional" key that I purchased IS NOT PIRATED.

    I bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex machine and then customized it with far better parts. It originally had a W10 installation, but that hard drive failed. I just transferred my W7 installation from my old HP Slim Line PC to the new Dell one. As such, there was never any Dell installation media to install.

    Also, because my original key was the Home Edition, the upgrade wiped my recovery tools.

    I AM NOT GOING TO FACTORY RESET MY COMPUTER. That is non-negotiable and unacceptable. It is not worth erasing everything and starting completely over. I could have done that a million times over by now.
    I have used the same OS and set up for fifteen years. Fifteen. Years. I have settings ranging from sounds all the way to custom Registry keys that let me right-click and open files in certain ways. My life's work is on this machine, and I take daily back ups (although the "Back Up and Restore" system also failed once I merged two partitions together on my external drive).

    The dell media is win7 pro.

    you could just use slp activation, the slic table in your firmware entitles the machine to win7
    Rt click and run as adminstrator on the .cmd file

    Siw2's tool should remove the runtime errors, and allow the process to complete

    FYI
    the product key in use is/was removed from another computer.. These OEM stickers were never intended to be resold
    (Oem's had to supply a back-up key). they are legitamate in the fact they are MS approved for use but not strictly genuine
    What happened in the past is that they were sold multiple times, and then MS blocked them Buyer beware

    Another oddity is that final entry in the report
    BGRT óîd

    relates to a Eufi OEM splashscreen, not seen one before and it certainly isnt from an american install
