exactly what the title says, i installed XP after windows 7 and now it sees system reserved as C: (which means i can't install drivers because the drivers for my computer is hardcoded to install to C:) D:

please don't suggest answers that format the windows 7 drive

was about to attempt to delete this post before seeing this reply.

yeah, i should've known that. but i've done the newest os first before and it usually works out fine. (clearly not right now)
will attempt to just reinstall with a system restore of my entire win7 partition.

any way to put full system backups on removable disks? windows 7 just says my removable drive (removable drive has 57 GiB, used space on windows 7 is 49.8 GiB) isn't a valid backup location

The active partition gets drive letter C in XP setup, and it remains that way after installation. Change the designated XP partition to active before installing.
