Did I get myself into a bind with a clean install?

How was the WD VR recognized before when plugged DISK2? Does it have different settings than previous HD?

boot back into Repair>Command Line and run "bootrec.exe /fixboot" and "bootrec.exe /fixmbr" without quotes

    or if those don't work "Bootsect.exe /nt60 all /force

The last fix logged should have been repair/rewrite MBR. These commands will do that.

It was recognized as sata 6 and the settings were the same.
It is now recognized as sata 1 and it 2nd order on the boot sequence.

It looked like it was going to work but still won't boot. The ".../force" command said something like"
    C: <\\?\ Volume............
    Successfully updated NTFS filesystem bootcode
Bootcode was successfully updated on all targeted volumes

Have we tried everything? Should I just go ahead and reinstall? Any other advice?

I was counting on Startup Repair to mark your C: drive active since it is not in the screenshot you posted.

This is supposed to be automated in Win7 Startup Repair.

    But let's make sure:

Boot DVD>Repair console>Recovery tools, open a Command Line, type:

    DISKPART
    LIST DISK
SELECT DISK # (for Windows 7 disk)
    LIST PARTITION
SELECT PARTITION # (for Windows 7 partition)
    ACTIVE
    EXIT

Then rerun Startup Repair 3 times to get it started up.

Didn't work so I went ahead and reinstalled.
    Thanks for all the assistance.

Could I ask if the Win7 partition was marked active before you tried to run Startup Repair.

I think that was the problem here, and means we need to have that done every time first.

    Thanks and enjoy WIndows 7!
