Restart Problems -- Help!!

In the bios, set Plug and Play OS to yes or enabled - if it's not already. Can only help.

Greg, iv used the windows debugger to check the minidump file after having BSOD evertime i restart my pc, i dont kknow how to use this, i hope u could help me. il attached the txtfile of the dump file.

Zip or rar the actual .dmp file and then attach that to a post. You're not using symbols so it's not reading correctly and also, we can see which drivers are problematic.

There is no reason to put up with restart anomalies like this. Clean reinstall and have this over with in an hour or two.

Back up your files, boot from the DVD, plug ethernet and select "Keep me connected to the internet during install," then Custom, use advanced drive tools to format and install.

You can add your programs back in as you need them. Be sure to set restore point before adding the 3rd party themes.

So, as an update to my original post, here's where I stand. I have done a repair install, and through trial and error, am able to boot up after restart. BUT, here's what I had to do:

1. Go into F2 and change the hard drive boot order to Ch 2 first (after DVD drive).
2. when it restarts, I now get a "system" screen that asks me if I want to use an earlier version of Windows or Windows 7. Or, I can click F8 to get additional options.
3. When I choose Windows 7, it starts right up and the computer seems fine.

Is there any way to avoid this intermediate step? I can live with it like this, but it would seem to me that it should boot up without having to tell it to launch Windows 7.

Yes remove the menu remnant by typing msconfig in Startup box, on Boot tab remove stray Windows 7 listing.

The other method is to use EasyBCD and Remove the Win7 listing that is NOT the one on the drive letter which you have confirmed is where you current working Win7 is installed.

Completely uninstall AVG and you should be alright.
