The VAIO factory installed apps would not have carried over without an in-place upgrade.

Otherwise they need to be reinstalled. Check the Support Downloads page for your model on Sony's Website, any disks that came with the Sony, or call Sony Tech support to inquire.

If you cannot do without them, then see if you can still activate the Vista recovery partition if it wasn't deleted/formatted, perhaps by tapping the F-key given for recovery on first boot screen.

Sony can also provide you with the Vista recovery disks, so that you can restore to factory condition, remove the bloatware you don't want, clean it up to remove corruption making sure uninstalled software is removed in Software keys of second and third registry hives, and using these tips: http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-Crapwa...ndows-Computer especially CCleaner and defragging.

Now you can do an in-place Win7 Upgrade that will carry over your preferred apps while leaving out the Sony bloatware.
