    windows 7 instilation problems

hey, ive been asked to fix a computer for a friend, the motherbored died and it wouldnt turn on anymore, so ive replaced the motherbored cpu ram etc, so it all works fine, apart from i go to load the origonal win xp from the HD and get the bsod. ive been into the recovery console and chkdsk'd the disk and it says its ok. the main thing is tho ive created a bootible dvd from the student files and i know that works as ive tryed it in other computers, but it wont load up in dos on this pc im trying to fix, looks for a disk then says no basically..... i then went into the recovery console and looked for the directory on the disk but got some strange error message.... any help???

    cheers

Anytime there is a motherboard replacement, clean install without exception.

Boot to the Windows 7 DVD by first going into the bios and setting the CD/DVD drive to first boot device.
