BSOD System_Service_Exception After Upgrade from Vista

Just upgraded an HP Laptop using HP Windows 7 kit. Everything went smoothly with no errors. However, as soon as logged in and got past the welcome screen, received the blue screen with System_Service_Exception. Tried everything from Advanced Boot Options including various Safe Modes and Repair Your Computer but none has helped- getting the same blue screen with System_Service_Exception. The furtherst I got was to the desktop for 2 minutes before the same thing happened. I am attaching the latest dmp files for your consideration. I can't afford to do a clean install. Please help with any thoughts you may have. Many thanks.

    Hey.

Clean install is best. You know it because you already said it.

You can try to update these drivers:
    Code:
    enecir enecir.sys Mon Dec 29 23:18:39 2008
    SynTP SynTP.sys Thu Sep 18 19:30:18 2008
Install the latest video card driver from NVIDIA's website. <<< Most important here.

Thanks for the reply. You are probably right about the clean install but I am not ready to give up yet. How can I install drivers when it goes to BSOD within 2 minutes? At best, I can access DOS through Safe Boot with Command Prompt (thats how I copied the DMP files). Can I do it through System Recovery?

I can't get to Device Manager, even in safe mode. It shuts me down in less than 2 minutes. I have to find a way to do it in command prompt. Any thoughts?

Problem Solved and I feel a little silly. There was an SD card in the the card reader and apparently the drivers for the card reader were not updated. Took it out and it booted fine, updated all drivers (HP and MS) and works great. Thanks for your help.

You're welcome. That's nothing to feel silly about. It was a legitimate problem.

Glad that you solved your issues!

Windows 7 upgrade from Vista picky about SD card

Thanks to the original poster who mentioned that he resolved his issue when he removed an SD card from a slot on his PC.

I had been going nuts with the BSOD since I installed Windows 7 (upgrading from Vista) on my HP dv5 laptop last Saturday night, trying all sorts of ways to update drivers, etc. when I couldn't get Windows to boot up in Safe mode or any other way. And what was especially frustrating was that the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor had told me that everything was fine on the laptop before it started the install. Wrong. What a tease!

And there are many, many threads on different forums out there about resolving a blue screen error that appeared after upgrading to Win 7. I tried all of them with no success.

Anyway, when I popped out the SD card, voila... a start-up with no immediate crash. I was then able to run various updates from the HP website and Microsoft website.

So I am posting here so that this simple solution might appear higher up in the Google search results.
