What are you trying to boot from? Are you sure the boot media works? Windows boots okay, right?

It doesn't sound like you have your boot priority correct.
Enter your BIOS and change the order to DVD/CD > HD > xxx > xxx

With regard to fixing the bootmgr is missing. Boot from your DVD and perform a startup repair.

What OS are you using now? If you are using 7 now, you may consider making a repair disc now.

Go into your BIOS and change the boot order to boot from the CD first.

Well it sounds like your computer is ignoring the BIOS setting. If you have set the BIOS boot order to DVD > HDD > Removable Drive > Network Boot. then it should do just that and not try to load an OS.
