Updrade Vista to 7

Is is possible to upgrade my existing Windows Vista Home Premimum to Windows 7 Professional? I've been offerend a great deal on Windows 7 Professional. And hate to pass it up. However, I've heard it recommended that Vista Home Premimum can only be upgraded to Windows 7 Premium or Ultimate.

Hello Skiperoo, welcome to the Seven Forums.

If you mean in-place upgrade, keeping all your installed software and applications plus your files, the answer is no. Only possible in-place upgrade path to Seven Professional is from Vista Business. Read more about in-place upgrade here.

However, you can buy an upgrade version of Seven Professional and do a custom, clean install. For that you are entitled with any existing version of XP or Vista. A clean install does not keep the installed software, you have to reinstall everything. You can move your personal files and settings from Vista Home Premium to Seven Professional using Windows Easy Transfer.

Hope this helps you to make a decision.
