    2 Windows 7 problems

I've been using win7 on my pc for a while now and only problem I have is picture quality.
On some images, quality will be very bad, very dark shadows and its out of contrast somehow.
But if I open same picture with pain, photoshop, firefox or any program it fixes, it just looks bad in default program. What might be the problem here?
And it's not all pictures, some...

Now send problem is bit bigger one.

On my laptop I had beta version of win7 for a while and I decided to install full version (64bit) that I have on my pc, so I know it's not dvd's problem.
It worked perfectly before but now once I'm done with install it gets to - Starting Windows - page, with 4 flashing parts of MS logo and justs hangs there for like 10, 15 minutes or more, I just do something else while it boots.
And after it boots, everything is normal, no problems!

What might be the problem here? I tried formating, deleting partitions and installing quite a few times now. Tried linux(ubuntu) and it works fine too. What's causing this?
If it's hardware fault, I'm still under warranty so I could get it fixed, but it's strange that after some time it just boots normally and continues working... until I try to start it again.

I just did fresh install again and as soon as it boots I'll post again or edit this post with info from event manager, something might be there.

Anything else I should look for?

Laptop is msi gx620, windows 7 64bit retail, and 64bit version beta worked few hours ago perfectly...

If you have Ubuntu and use a GRUB bootloader it can mess with Windows 7. Try installing to a separate HD with the other OS drives unplugged, then access it via the BIOS Boot Menu shortcut F- key (often F10) given on the first bootup screen.

Research your video card/chip driver a bit deeper, find and try any other applicable drivers, then try again installing in Vista compatibility mode. The best driver should be in the WIn7 installer, normally.

Since your hardware is still under warranty, take some time to test each in depth:

Use both the Windows Memory Diagnostic Test for its two passes, then run memtest86 bootable CD overnight. If memory errors, remove sticks to isolate problem. Try swapping RAM positions.

Find the diagnostics/repair for your HD on the maker's website, e.g. Seagate Seatools, WD Lifeguard, etc. Run full test, then zero the drive to reinstall if you have any GRUB underneath.

There are a number of useful diagnostics on this page: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools\Advanced Tools

    Hi, thanks for the response.

No, ubuntu isn't installed. Tested once and did another format and fresh install.

I have Nvidia 9600M, and it's same when booting for first time and after having latest drivers installed. Strange thing is beta version worked fine. I'll try to look if I can find dvd with it on and see if it works, along with XP and Visa if I can dig them out from somewhere.

Will try to test hardware, though it works with other OS, :/

Also a lot of stuff in event manager, I'll post whats happening there once I boot it up.

At 4:20:22 it says operating system started at system time xxxxxxxxxxxxx(numbers) and then theres bunch of stuff at 4:30-31, about devices entering running state etc. So it seems like it starts up and then for some unknown reason takes 10 min to start loading stuff? I don't get it. All the stuff in event viewer under System are information, no errors.

Found Vista dvd, gonna format and see how that goes, and then try to upgrade instead of full reinstall, maybe that helps. I'll keep posting and hopefully someone might help :)

Ok here's the deal, I installed same old win7 beta(64bit) I had and it worked great, but then I installed visa 32bit I have and it same deal like with retail win7 its stuck at loading screen! For less time then on win7 but still a long time.
When it boots I'll try to upgrade but I have a feeling same thing will happen.

Any idea what might be the cause? Because if its hard disk I'll take it to get fixed.

    Hi and welcome

Try booting into safe mode (F8) if it doesnt hang there it is probably the video driver. Check in device manager to make sure it is installed and working

Found another visa disk and this one works normally. So basically I have 2 same visa discs and one loads ok and the other doesnt, and only difference is one is newer. hmm, gonna try to format again... So confusing...

Edit: Ok I tried to boot up in safe mode and it gets stuck on CLASSPNP.SYS for long time and then boots up, just like it would when freezing on loading windows.
So is that the issue? What is it? Googleing atm

Also its been sitting at "Attemting repairs..." for over 20 minutes now, no sign of ending. Will post if something happens, gonna flash my BIOS now.

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event name : StartupRepairOffline
    Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
    Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
    Problem Signature 03: unknown
    Problem Signature 04: 0
    Problem Signature 05: AutoFailover
    Problem Signature 06: 1
    Problem Signature 07: NoRootCause
    POS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
    Locale ID: 1033

Says this after long time trying to repair, means anything?

I'm not clear on why you are reinstalling Vista to upgrade to Windows 7. This is an inferior method of installing Windows 7.

Better to boot from the Win7 installer and custom install using Advanced drive tools to format the drive first.

Be sure to choose "Connect to internet during install" so that you get the latest drivers/updates into the installer. Check WIndows Updates after install for newer drivers.

If you have an Upgrade copy then use this: http://community.winsupersite.com/bl...he-answer.aspx

I was doing it to try and see if I will be stuck at loading for 20 minutes, but I couldn't upgrade because my vista was 32 bit while 7 is 64bit.
And on 1 fresh install of Vista all was ok, and on other(different dvd, but both work, tested before) same problem like in 7 (stuck at loading for long time).

Found XP too, might try it but first I will flash my BIOS if I manage to do it with USB, can't get it to work for some reason.

Also again, I'm 100% sure there's no problem with disk that installs 7 because it's been running great on my desktop pc, and it installs fine on laptop but there just seems to be something that happens after hmm.
Really need to get it to work, need my laptop for university on monday, luckily its weekend now.

If only boot thing could be solved
Anyone got idea what I can try?
