Upgrading Using Discs on a Clean PC

So here is my plan. To custom build a PC off computerplanet and buy this with NO OS, and to install Windows 7 when received. I will be buying it under the student offer for £30. I already have access to Windows 7 HP install disks, and my main questiion is this: Can I use these Windows 7 HP discs to install Windows 7, but using the serial number which I will be buying under the student offer?

(I call them HP disks as that is what they say on them!)

    Many thanks

    Oliver

If they are the same ,i.e home premium i cant see why not,but maybe the upgrades differ from the retails disc and perhaps the student one would be different.

I don't know whether the upgrade HP provides is generic, or BIOS locked.

Something you might wish to read:

I'm not sure whether the student special is an upgrade or a full version, although I believe that it's an upgrade license.

If you end up downloading the version that you've bought, I recommend getting the .iso if you can. (The fulfillment service for the US, Digital River, didn't originally offer an .iso download, but I've read that they have added it.)

Thanks for the replies. I must add, it is not an upgrade ( as much as it is adevertised as oneonthe student off, silly MS! ) on one PC, i have already formatted the HDD to get rid of vista, and then clean installed 7 with the disc and license bought togther.
I presume I can use the same discs with a different license.
I was just needing to clarify.
Thanks for the advice and replies.

    Happy Holidays!!

Oliver - the installers are all the same, just some versions hidden by an ei.cfg file in Sources, which can be removed, ISO recompiled using Vlite, then burned to DVD to have an All-Versions installer.

It is the keys which are version specific. Student deal is full retail so it should activate as long as you get version correct.
