Windows 7: Stuck in repair loop. Major help needed

Windoes Pro x64 and Windows Pro X86
I got mine fixxed!!!!!!

I was having the same issue with the Startup Repair loop. I had done a fresh install of Win7 X64 on to a Intel SSD. It installed just fine and the first reboot went straight into the OS ( all good so far). After installing the first round of update from MS it required a reboot; that is when the loop started. Everytime it rebooted I had to do the repair. After about 4 -5 attempts Windows finally booted to the desktop. At that point I looked on the Motherboard manufactures website and found that there was an update fort he BIOS. After updated the BIOS.....No more Repair loop. I have rebooted about 30 times since with no repair loop.

After doing that I remembered that I had to upgrade the BIOS on my work PC when I upgraded to Win7 Pro X86. My work computer was not experiencing the Repair loop, but was very slow and bogged down. Once I upgraded the BIOS all is well. I have been running Win7 at work since the release with no issues. BIOS still controls a lot apparently.

Hope this helps everyone. Please let me know the results.

Thank you Everyone for the help.

Win7 Ultimate x64, openSuSE 12.2 x64

I have same problem with 2 separate Dell Laptops, one an Inspiron 9300 and the other XPS M170 2 Gen. I upgraded both to 2 GB RAM and 320 GB internal IDE internal hard drives. Bought Windows 7 Professional OEM's for each. Both OK until I do the Windows Updates. After that, no joy, and is stuck in Repair Reboot Loop. Only fix is reformat and re-install. Unfortunately, as soon as I do any updates, it goes back to the repair loop. I just noticed that someone was able to fix after updating his BIOS. I have latest that Dell has put out for both, which is A05. Also, using x32 version of 7 Pro.

Dec 13, 2010.
I discovered problem caused by having boot drive size larger then 127 GB. Seems that Dell has posted no further BIOS updates and both Dell laptops will not boot with drive over 127 GB, so I resized boot dirve to 120 GB and now everything works great. Thought I would pass this on for others trying to install Windows 7 on older laptops which don't have BIOS updates to get around this limitation.

Wipe the HD of all code before install: SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

Make sure your BIOS is current, set SATA controller to AHCI first, then IDE if necessary.

Test your RAM with memtest86 CD for 5-6 passes, then your HD using maker's diag/repair CD full scan.
