    Cannot install Windows 7?

    Hello!

I re-formated my C:/ drive completly with Linux Live CD yesterday, to install Windows 7 again on a 40GB partition on my 1TB drive.

I make a partition on 40GB, and I formate it as NTFS in Linux.
Then, I boot up with my WIndows 7 inserted to install the OS.

I get this error when I try to install on my 40GB partition:

"Installationprogram cannot make a new systempartition or find a excisting systempartition."

I tried to install it on my remaining 860GB harddive, but still the same error.

NOTE: The PC has NO operatingsystem at the moment.

    Please help me!

I see that you have a RAID array. What is the SATA operation mode set to in your BIOS? Try changing it to non-raid and disconnecting 1 drive.

Are you running RAID, or just the one drive?

Boot back into the linux cd and delete the partition that you created. Then boot the windows install disc and format the drive from inside the isntaller. If it still can't see the drive, you will need to try changing the bios raid setting, or provide the raid driver during installation.

Why pre-format the drive using Linux, risking conflicting format?

The Win7 DVD has these tools built in.

Delete the formatting and use the Win7 DVD.

I tried the tools that Windows 7 DVD comes with, but still no luck.

I\m not trying to install the operatingsystem on the raid harddrives, but on a partition on my non/raid 1TB drive.

    Believe me, I am.

I've been checking out "Ultimate Boot CD V4.1.1"
Is anyone familiar with this Live CD, or can it help me with my problem?

Still try changing the SATA operation mode to non-raid.
