Disk Errors !!!URGENT!!!

Hi guys, I'm typing this from my spare PC as my laptop is totally not working.

I tried to start-up the laptop and it got past the manufacturer logo (Compaq) and then showed a blank screen for about 1 minute before saying Windows Is Loading Files and then automatically starting Start-Up Repair which tries to repair disk errors. I leave it for an hour and a bit and it's still completing. Checked Task Manager (Repair Your Computer> Command Prompt> TASKMGR) and it was just stuck on about 356,761K of memory, so I shut down and got my Hiren Boot CD and tried opening Partition Magic, which had a Partition Table Error #105 and when I went to Format and Create New Partitions, and then Apply All Changes I got Error #4. So finally I tried some other partition manager and I got some partitions made. I went and got my Build 7077 Windows 7 CD and tried to install, it boots to the DVD, but it detects no hard drives, although when I choose where to boot from in BIOS, it sees my 200GB hard disk fine. I HAVE NO DISK DRIVERS OR ANY CDs!!!!! Same happens with my 64-Bit RTM disk and my Vista disk. Windows XP hangs on "Inspecting 199,920 MB........

SO DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING TO GET MY LAPPY WORKING? I'LL TRY ANYTHING!! BESIDES OPENING IT

Thanks,
ZeshanA

Try using the disk manufacturer's tools to test your HD. Here is the link for Seagate, not sure what HD you are using.

BartPE - Run chkdsk.

If that does not work. UBCD - Low level format.

If BartPe/UBCD does not see your drive, you're going to need a new one.

Since it's recognized in the BIOS, BartPE/UBCD more than likely, will detect it.

Hi, I tried doing a test from the Logo screen but that said no disk.

Is SMART enabled for that disk in the BIOS?

Yeah, but it still can't see anything. Well anyways, I've given it to a local PC repair shop (Doubt that they'll help me Software-Wise any more than you can, but at least they can sort out the hardware bits, if there are any....)

Thanks for all your help. +REP

Was going to burn the UBCD using this computer, but then remembered it doesn't have a writer.

Thanks for your help though. Really appreciate it.

Get your hands on spinrite, create a bootable disc and run it. This little piece of software is amazing, and if it doesn't fix your HD issues, I don't think anything will. My laptop used to hang at the logo screen forever while the HD was *clicking* and eventually boot but after spinrite and about 3 hours, everything was back to normal!
