Chances are you have one HD with one partition anyway, which will show up when you select Custom install. Then click on Advanced drive tools so you can format that partition before installing.

Check now to make sure by clicking Start orb> then right click Computer> select Manage > then Disk Management. Look on the drive map and see what partitions are listed.

This is similar to the map you will see when you select Custom install from the booted Win7 installer.

Do you see where you will install Win7?

You are all set to install to the large C: partition there.

You might want to make your Vista recovery disks first so you have a path back to full factory recovery in case you ever want to sell the computer but retain your Win7.

Sometimes maker's require this also when servicing the hardware warranty, although most will provide the recov disks for shipping charges.

Once you install Win7, the recov partition should be disabled. However you can test it by tapping the F-key given on first bootup screen for Recovery.

If it is willing to run, then you might want to keep it, otherwise you can delete it in Disk management as it is wasted space.
