    win7 disk won't boot

hey guys i got a question for you.

i dug out an older desktop i had and decided to see if i could get windows 7 to run on it. it's a 2ghz dell, 512 mb ram, nvidia fx5500 graphics. for some reason none of my win7 disks will boot. xp disk boots fine. i thought it possible that it was because the ram was to low. but i just get a black screen for a second then regular boot to xp. i did double check the boot order.

let me know what you think.

    thx

Try running the installer Setup file from XP.

You may need to put IDE controllers into installer at Custom drive screen link.

Check your BIOS settings for what drive controllers are available.

Most XP install discs were CD's, Win7 install discs are DVD's.

Does this older machine have a DVD drive or just a CD drive ?

The specs sound ok, I have installed win7 on less
