You should find out if your computer has a video card in it.

It may just have a chip on the Intel mobo. The 865 chipset stops with XP but has a 2007 Intel Extreme Graphics driver update that might work here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...+Board+D865GLC

Unzip the driver download on your desktop and browse to the driver folder from the Driver update tab on the VGA Display Adapter Driver in the Device Manager. Ask for help here if you need it.

Ask your friend that built the computer what video card it has in it. If its just the "onboard" video, then i'm afraid your out of luck and the computer doesnt support aero.

install & run this app....GPUZ, & post a screen shot.

this app will tell us all there is to know about your machines GFX configuration. :)

    Great tool, thanks.

You see a graphics card listed after running GPUZ, Yoshi?

If not, look at the back of your case at where your monitor is plugged in: is it plugged to a card in one of the PCI slots, or to a port grouped with the others?

A card in the PCI slot will look something like this:

This mobo has onboard graphics -Intel 865G - and according to this page Vista and Win7 drivers are unavailable.

Aero effects my not be possible without an add-on display adapter.

It may be an Intel mobo with onboard graphics but somehow Nvidia is showing up in the audit.

Did you look at the back of your case to see if there is a video card as shown in the screenshot I attached above? If not, then that Nvidia is a ghost listing.

Was this the Intel Extreme graphic driver link I gave you yesterday? How do you know it updated the driver. Did the date or version change in Device Manager?
