    Can't reformat My Computer!!!

I have a windows 7 CD I made from the computer. My computer now keeps crashing. I can't start the computer normally or in safe mode. It shows me the blue screen. So if I insert the CD, it says press any key to boot from the CD. then it goes to startup repair where it can't repair anything. It doesn't reinstall Windows 7. and I can't even restore to the factory conditions. this Laptop was Vista basic when bought.

How did you install Win 7. You should not be getting blue screens, unless something changed, like a device or a driver that is causing the problems. But if you have the Install DVD, boot to it and select REPAIR when it comes up.

You should also be able to get to this same type of recovery option if you hit F8 during boot.

A start-up repair may help and it may take several tries. But if you still have the original problem, it may not help.

Did you clean install Win 7 using the custom install option, or the upgrade option?

Just to amplify this; the repair mode can only fix one thing at a time, so you really need to run it 3 times to be sure that it is not working.

Consensus is that upgrade installations often produce problems that last much longer than the additional steps required form a clean install. Pay now, or pay later.

I have run the repair loads of times with no luck. F8 goes to boot options where there are things like safe mode. It says it is booting up from cd then just goes to system repair without me having to do any configaration. any help appretiated.

Use DBAN to nuke the HD, then try booting Win7 DVD to do CUstom install with formatting.

You may need to reset the BIOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

Also check that you have the latest BIOS version on your computer model's Support Downloads page, comparing to the BIOS version given on first bootup screen or by Entering BIOS setup. In BIOS setup, check that correct boot order is set with DVD drive first, then HD.

Unplug all USB devices, remove all but 2gb of memory. Test memory with memtest 86 CD, at least 6 passes.

Find HD model and download HD diagnostics/repair CD from model's Support Downloads page: run full test and then zero the drive to try booting DVD to install.

If the above instructions fail, please try Switching the SATA from IDE mode to AHCI (or) Vice - versa. This could fix the issue, so that you will be able to boot from the installation Disk. Please refer the below link for assistance:
